Arkansa’s single parent scholarship finds have been recognized with the 2024 Community Impact Award for its commitment to strengthening single parents through education.

Recognition was awarded at the Small Business Impact Awards Luncheon, hosted by Little Rock Regional Chamber on May 8 at the Robinson Center. The event celebrated five awards and 15 finalists for their innovation, vision and contribution to the local community.

Community Impact Award specifically recognizes a 501C3 nonprofit in Little Rock, which “affects society through advocates, enabling and strengthening an underrated, under -represented or disadvantaged population in our area,” according to the chamber. ASPSF was one of three finalists for the category together with recycling bikes for children and ICM: Independent case management.

“We are grateful to Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce to recognize our work and its influence on single parents in Arkansas,” said Jenn Morehead, ASPSF director. “It is a wonderful testimony to the ASPSF community’s commitment, including donors, volunteers, partners, staff and especially the single parents we serve.”

Since 1990, ASPSF has worked tirelessly to complete a single parent poverty through higher education. Through flexible scholarships and recovery services, ASPSF students allow low-income persons to end their education, start a new career that increases their income and sets a powerful example for their children. Today, thousands of professionals – teachers, nurses, accounting people, welders, mechanics and more – got in society their first degree or certification using ASPF.

“We believe that education is a powerful tool for breaking down barriers and creating brighter futures,” said Wendy Stotts, ASPF Development Manager, who accepted the award on behalf of ASPSF. “We are proud to be part of a society that appreciates education and empowerment, and we remain obliged to create opportunities for single parents to achieve their academic and career goals.”
