Nearly 400 single parents receive SPRING 2023 -All fellow from ASPSF

Little Rock, Sheet. (March 27, 2022) – Arkansa’s single parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) awarded 383 scholarships to single parents for the spring of 2023 -Semester.

A total of almost $ 400,000 the scholarships are combined with services, such as mentoring scheme and financial planning. ASPF’s model creates a support system designed to help single parents with low income stay in school, study with a degree or certificate and start a professional career with higher wages.

“The ASPSF prize has not only helped me financially, it has also given me some useful life skills with a handbook and workshops. I am grateful for the donors who make this scholarship possible,” said spring 2023 -recipient Charlotte Hudson, a nursing student at the University of Arkansas for medical science.

Supporters who funded the Spring 2023 scholarships from single parents include individuals, churches, small businesses and various banks and United Way organizations throughout the state.

In addition, funding is partly provided by the Arkansas Community Foundation, Arkansa’s Division of Higher Education, Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation, Charles A. Frueauff Foundation, Conway Corp, Entergy, First Electric Cooperative, Union Pacific and Willard & Pat Walker CharitaLable Foundation to mention a few.

Single parents are entitled to ASPF scholarships if their household income is typically no more than 250% of the federal guidelines for poverty, maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and have not previously earned a bachelor’s degree, among other requirements.

ASPSF’s next scholarship application period is April 15-15. June for the fall of the 2023 semester. Statement amount is increased for all eligible full-time and part-time single parents of a maximum of $ 1,600 (up from $ 1,200).
