Wynne School District -Poder named ASPSF August 2024 Month of the Month of the Month

Arkansa’s single parent scholarship finds are honored to have volunteers like Sherry Breckenridge, the month’s volunteer August 2024. For sherry it’s a core part of who she is.

“First of all, I have a heart and call to help others,” she said. “I think we each get gifts to use in this life, and I know that mine is service to others.

She lives out of these values by working for Wynne School District in various roles that support family engagement, care, homelessness prevention and virtual learning. In particular, her experiences as a single parent and mentoring of single mothers at Wynne High School drew her to volunteer with ASPSF.

“I’ve had many opportunities over the years to share my story of infertility, adoption, divorce, single parents and have a family member with an addiction,” Sherry said. “I would like to believe that these experiences have enabled me to help others along the way in the ASPSF program, as I have encouraged them to find the positive things in these difficult times.

Since 2012 – when she joined SPSF Cross County Board of Director – Sherry has helped countless single parents by raising money for scholarships, interviewing applicants and coordinating scholarships that are her preferred volunteer activity because she can interact with recipients at a deeper level and guide them in the areas they can fight.

“I know the problems and problems that these young single parents face on a daily basis because I lived it for many years,” she said. “I’m not just giving advice;
