Lunch break to raise funds for single parents students over Arkansas on October 17

NonProfit Arkansa’s Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) hosts its second annual state fundraiser. Presented by Carol and Witt Stephens, the lunch break is set to 11:30. On October 17 at the City Center in Little Rock.

Lunch will include keynote speaker Dr. Shore Y. West-Scantlebury by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. She will be accompanied by 2024 -scholarship recipient Brianna BoenA single mother of three working on his bachelor’s degree at Arkansas Tech University, and 2011 -scholarship recipient Kwami Abdul-BeyA candidate for Arkansas House District 69 in Central Arkansas.

“Single parent families are beautiful, positive, legitimate families,” West-Scantlebury said. “The more education we can get our single parents – it changes the track for that family. It changes the track for the family’s future. “

Revenue from the Event Mean ASPSF Grants and Students’ Support. The organization helps students with low income with single parents and helps them stay in school, master’s degree and start a career with family supporting wages. At the event, ASPSF will also announce the winners of the 2024 Outstanding Partner Awards, which recognizes individuals, businesses and schools for their extraordinary support for students with single parents. The finalists nominated by ASPSF students and followers include:

  • Outstanding Philanthropy Partner finalists: Edelma Simes from Phillips County, Freda Calloway from Drew County and Mary Kate Snow from Pulaski County.
  • Outstanding Corporate Partner finalists: Simmons Bank, Southern Bancorp and Wear & Share Inc.
  • Outstanding School Partner finalists, registration over 2,500: Texarkana College, University of Arkansas at Little Rock and UA – Pulaski Technical College
  • Outstanding School Partner finalists, registration under 2,500: Arkansas Northeastern College, East Arkansas Community College and North Arkansas College
