NonProfit Arkansa’s Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is pleased to be able to advertise the addition of Angela Thomas to her team.
Thomas, a native and dedicated community lawyer in West Memphis, joins aspf with a deep passion for supporting single parents when pursuing higher education and career development. January 13, her first day was the program manager for ASPS East Region, which includes Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Monroe, Phillips, Prairie and St. Francis counties.
Thomas brings a diverse background in education, business and government sectors. She previously served as a data analyst/IT professional for the city of West Memphis. Before passing to the government, she spent 18 years in business and began her career in the development of early childhood. She has a bachelor of art in business administration and is currently pursuing a master’s in public administration.
In his role as ASPSF program leader, Thomas will recruit new applicants, help single parents -students apply for the scholarship, mentor recipients, ceremonies for host fellowships, plan professional development workshops and manage volunteers supporting the scholarship program.
“I am attracted to this work because I am a single mother and I can relate to the challenges of working and going to school and having a family,” Thomas said. “I am excited about the opportunity to help single parents, acknowledge their efforts and have influence in their lives.”
Chief Program Officer Lacresha Newton expressed enthusiasm that Thomas joined ASPSF.
“Angela’s unique mix of experience, dedication and personal connection to our mission makes her a huge asset to our team,” Newton said. “Her commitment to community service and her understanding of the challenges that single parents face will undoubtedly strengthen our influence over Arkansas.”
Thomas is actively involved in organizations such as Keep West Memphi’s beautiful, citizens of change and deltaarts, where she served as board president. Thomas moved to West Memphis from Phoenix in 2019 with his daughter. In their spare time, they enjoy theater, vintage shopping, painting, karaoke and volunteering.
ASPSF is excited to welcome Thomas and look forward to the contributions she will make by promoting the organization’s mission to strengthen single parents through education and career development.
